At 110 floors and 1,377 feet above sea level, the World Trade Center boasts the  "Worlds Highest Rooftop Promenade." Located on the 107th floor, the Observation Deck is 1,310 feet above sea level. There are 232 viewing windows surrounding the deck.

Since the Observation Deck opened in 1975, 30 million people have visited.
Current annual attendance is approximately 1.8 million visitors.

Waking up on Wednesday, that was the first thought of the day. Two days ago such an event would have seemed suitable only for a James Bond film plot.

Already endlessly repeated, the images of the collapse of the World Trade Center are burned into our memories, a symbol of the impotence of commercial and economic might in the face of determined attack Everything is different now.
On September 11 2001, the World Trade Center was destroyed.
The Pentagon
The Pentagon is the five-sided headquarters building of the U.S. Department of
Defense in Arlington, Va., across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

It covers an area of 11.74 hectares (29 acres) and is one of the largest office buildings in the world. It consists of five concentric pentagons around a center courtyard.

The Pentagon was built by U.S. Army engineers from 1941 to 1943. It was built to bring all of the offices of what was then the Department of War together in one building. The Pentagon now contains the offices for the departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The name Pentagon is also popularly applied to the Department of Defense itself.

The building is twice the size of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, and has three times the floor space of the Empire State Building in New York. The National Capitol could fit into any one of the five wedge-shaped sections.

The Pentagon is virtually a city in itself. Approximately 23,000 employees, both military and civilian, contribute to the planning and execution of the defense of our country. These people arrive daily from Washington, D.C., and its suburbs over approximately 30 miles of access highways, including express bus lanes and one of the newest subway systems in our country.
Terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners Tuesday and crashed two into the World Trade Center in New York and another into the Pentagon in Washington D.C., killing what is estimated to be thousands of civilians.

The attacks are being described as the greatest catastrophe on American soil since Pearl Harbor nearly 60 years ago and the world’s worst-ever terrorist strike.
My heartfelt condolences go to those who have lost family and friends in this cowardly act. My thanks go to those who help us recover and who protect us and our ideals.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We are moved by the alarming news and crisis that our country is facing.
This, the greatest nation, founded in the belief that "In God We Trust" & the "Land of the Free".  Please have mercy on those suffering, hurting and in fear, and give wisdom & strength to those who are assisting.  May the forces of evil be broken by your power and may we humble before thee, our strength and refuge.

Give wisdom to all our President & our leaders and bring your Comforting peace through the power of your Holy Spirit.  Help us here to reach to those that have been affected by this tragedy.

In the name of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.  AMEN
Lord, I pray for our country right now, that everyone would feel your presence and your comfort and that they would know that even in the chaos and the unknown, that you are in control of each of our lives and that you love us all.  We are all in so much shock, Lord, and our lives have been shaken though we are not actually physically at the places that have been devastated.  Help us each to find comfort in you and help us to feel your presence as we learn more and more details as the hours and days go by.  Be with the victims, the emergency personnel, and our leaders in government.  Guide them, strengthen them, and comfort them as they continue to face the horror of this tragedy.  I pray this all in the powerful name of Jesus.  Amen.

Though terrorists may have struck out at us as Americans, let us come together and show our unity. Let us show that though our arm may have been hurt, they can not dim the heart of America which rages bright. On Thursday September 13, 2022 at 10:30 pm EST, walk out your door and light a candle or lantern to show the world that our spirit burns bright. Gather with loved ones or gather with neighbors but let our light burn in the night to show that we are united and that we remain strong.

National Prayer

Lord, we come to You on bended knee,
heads bowed and our hearts filled to overflowing
with so much grief for the many people who have 
been injured and killed in our National crisis.

We ask you Lord, to give courage
and strength to those who so bravely
go to their aid. And though their hearts will
be heavy and filled with sorrow we ask Lord
that You give them the endurance needed
to help them through this difficult task.

Please give us the strength Lord,
to get through each difficult and devastating
day that faces each of us and our country.
Protect and guide our Military that 
are now being called to duty.

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders
of our great country in their hour of decision.
The burden that has been placed on their 
shoulders during this crisis is overwhelming.
We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You
guide them gently to the right decisions.

And lastly Lord, we ask that You 
allow us all to come together as a Nation,
to stand tall and united, so that we might
help each other in our hour of need.
