Slat Side Border

Knowledge of PSP is necessary
Any resemblance to any other tut is purely coincidental.
Settings will remain the same unless specified
All settings include Symmetric unless specified.

Supplies Needed:

PSP (I use v 9 but other versions can be used)
Mask:  winni.mask.44.1
Mask:  winni.mask.40.1

File includes the image I used and both masks.

Preparation:

Open graphic and both masks in PSP
Minimize both masks
Resize graphic to height no more than 400.
Edit / copy your graphic and edit / paste / paste as new image twice.
Close original graphic
Choose light color from your graphic for your foreground color
Minimize both graphics.

Let's Go!

1.  Open new image 1280 x 400

2.  Selections / select all

3.  Edit / Paste into selection (graphic should still be copied on clipboard)

4.  Deselect

5.  Adjust / Blur / Gaussian 15%

6.  Effects / Distortion effects / Pixelate, settings - Block width 20, Block height 20

7.  Effects / image effects / seamless tiling at default setting

8.  Layers / new raster layer

9.  Fill with foreground color.

10.  Lower opacity of this layer to be text friendly.  I used 70.

11.  Adjust / add / remove noise / add noise - Random 10 - 30(Your preference), monochrome checked

12.  Effects / image effects / seamless tiling at default setting (be sure top layer is highlighted)

13.  Minimize background for later.

14.  Maximize both graphics

15.  Layers / Promote background layer on both graphics.

16.  Image / Canvas size - add 20 to both width & height.  Click center so 10 is added all around graphic.
Do this to both graphics.

17.  First graphic - Layers / new mask layer / from image.  Choose winni.mask.44.l  - Source Luminance  - OK

*Note:  If your prefer to load your masks into your PSP files / Masks then do this:
Layers / load/save mask / load mask from disk.  Choose winni.mask.44.l  - Luminance, Fit to canvas, hide all mask all checked.  Invert transparency not checked. - OK

18.  Merge Group

19.  Second graphic - Layers / new mask layer / from image - Invert Mask checked.  Choose winni.mask.40.l  - OK

20.  Layers / Merge group

21.  Effects / 3D effects / Drop shadow - H & V 2, opacity 100, blur 5

22.  Repeat drop shadow using H & V minus 2 (-2)

23.  Edit / copy the slatted graphic.

24.  Edit / Paste as new layer onto other graphic.

25.  Line up to your liking.

26.  Layers / Merge visible

27.  Resize image to height of 400.

28.  Edit / copy your merged image.

29.  Maximize your background image.

30.  Edit / Paste as new layer onto your background image.

31.  With your mover tool, move to left and position evenly between top and bottom.

32.  Layers / Merge All (flatten)

33.  Layers / new raster layer

34.  Add your watermark.

35.  Merge All

36.  Save as jpg optimized at 25%.

37.  Assemble in Letter Creator.
