Color Changing Header

Level: Intermediate
Must have a good working knowledge of PSP and Animation ShopNeed
PSP - I use v9
Animation Shop
Tube of your choice
No more than Height 300,
Width will adjust itselfPreparation
Open tube in PSP
Resize if necessary
Edit/Copy/Paste as New Image
Close original
Open new image 100 x 100
Choose a very light color for the background
With the paint brush, paint a stroke across the top.![]()
Choose a dark color and paint 1/2 the bottom
Choose another dark color and paint the remained of the square.![]()
It should now be easier to change the colors with the dropper
And you can see how the colors look together.Minimize tube.
All settings will remain the same unless otherwise noted.
Let's Get Started
1. Open a new image 400 x 400, transparent
2. Flood fill with the lightest color.
3. Select the 2 dark colors in foreground and background
4. Layers/Duplicate
5. Close out layer 2 and Highlight layer 1
6. Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds

Settings: 20, 30, Horizontal Not Checked, Light from left/top Checked.
Right click on color square, choose one of your dark colors.
OK7. Close out layer 1 and open and Highlight layer 2
8. Effects/Texture Effects/Blinds
Right click on color square, choose the other dark color.
OK9. Open all layers
10. Save as a psp image.
Tube Image
11. Open new image 400 x 400, Transparent
12. Selection/Select all
13. Selections/Modify/Contract 10
14. Selections/Invert
15. Flood Fill with one of the dark colors.
16. Effects/3D effects/ Inner bevel

Settings: # 2, 2, 0, 4, 0, 0, white, 315, 50, 3017. Selections/Invert
18. Effects/3D effects/Cutout

Setting: 4, 4, 50, 15, Shadow black19. Layer/New Raster Layer/
20. Repeat cutout using minus 4 (-4) vertical & horizontal
21. Open Tube; Edit/Copy/Paste as selection
22. Using the mover tool, move tube slightly lower if you want to add text.
23 - Deselect
24 - Add drop shadow if desired

Settings: 4 - 4 - 50 - 4 - Black25. To do text on a curve:
Select the preset shape tool, settings as follows![]()
26. In material palette, set foreground to black and background to null.

27. Starting at 30, 55, draw an oval.

28. Reset material palette to the color you want your text.
29. Add new raster layer
Set your text tool to floating.
30. Line up cursor until it shows an A with a half circle.
31. Click and type your text.
32. Delete the vector layer ( the one with the oval.)
33. Add drop shadow if desired.
34. Add a new raster layer and add your watermark as usual.
35. Layers/Merge/visible
36. Edit/Copy
37. Open Animation Shop
38. Paste as new image
39. Edit/Copy
40. Open the image with blinds in AS
41. Edit/Select all

42. Set to Propagate Paste

43. Paste onto blind image. Do not release mouse until positioned where you want it.
44. Animation/Frame Properties. Set time to 50. Be sure all frames remain selected.

46. File/Save as - Follow each screen. I use Better Image Quality

You can now close ASBackground
(Return to PSP)47. Open new image 200 x 200
48. Set material palette:
Lightest color in foreground
Slightly darker color in background.49. Flood fill with the lightest color.
50. Effects.TextureEffects/Blinds Settings:
Change width to 10
Right click on color square, choose the darker color.
OK51. Save as optimized (25%) jpg.
52. Assemble in Letter Creator.
